The /t/BES community (this blog’s official community) exists for two main reasons:
Firstly, there is no communities of this kind out there. I believe it can greatly benefit curators and content creators such as bloggers, vloggers, and podcasters.
Secondly, my team and I built a platform called Snapzu that allows anyone to run a web community (and/or knowledge base) about any subject, topic, or idea. We are taking center stage and leading by example by running our own community and utilizing the age old concept of “strength in numbers” to help us. I’ve been in the business of building blogging communities for longer than I wish to admit. So it’s fair to say that, like you — I experienced my fair share of wins, fails and those glorious eureka moments. Building anything requires effort, and a community is no exception.
Over the years, I realized that there is one key characteristic that all successful blog communities share.
Did you know that blogging dates all the way back to 1997?
Yep, it’s almost as old as the world wide web itself. It was called “weblogging” back then and started as a fancy way to keep an online journal for the tech savvy! In the couple of decades since, a LOT has changed, and the web as we know it today is filled with modern content management systems. CMS options like WordPress made blogging considerably more robust and accessible to the masses. This is great news of course, as few can build a blog/website from scratch!
