I’ve always wondered about the split. You know, the percentage of people calling themselves entrepreneurs and yet understanding that their endeavor will be a brutal grind fest as they walk a long road of hard work, dedication and perseverance — vs — the get rich quick approach where the world seemingly bends to their will, and everything they touch turns to gold. I guess the proverbial corpses along the way are the latter.

If we’re absolutely sure of just one thing in this world, it is that we’re stuck with ourselves for the rest of our lives. So we better make that relationship work, because if we don’t we will have a tough time breaking up! People say they are born again, or that they have reinvented themselves — and yes, it’s definitely possible, but sometimes just paying attention to what we want and love is enough not to have to start over.

I believe everyone should look at failure as a learning experience, viewed as one of many bumps on the road to success while remaining as positive about our prospects as possible. Negativity will burn bridges, limit networking opportunities and keep our guard up when we should be out there creating relationships. How has being positive in the face of so much negativity worked for you?

We’ve all heard the saying, “Fake it ’till you make it”. It’s something that I’ve noticed more and more entrepreneurs are applying to their growth strategy. But lets be real, nothing can be worse than keeping up a facade because adjusting the way you are is a part of the plan. Being happy with what you do while being who you truly are is a big aspect of true success.

Regret is one of the most difficult feelings we can deal with, because it only grows in potency as we get older. If we choose a life that we don’t want, and we don’t take the initiative to adjust our course it will be the perfect conditions for regret to spawn and fester. That’s why it’s so important to get over our doubt and fear of failure, and just give it a chance. In the end, no amount of failure will be as crippling to our self worth as regret when we realize we had to potential to do so much more.

Opening up and lowering our guard can be the most difficult thing we may ever face. Our doubt and fear will appear strong, and that’s natural, it’s literally millions of years of constantly evolving survival instinct. However, the best thing we can do is let the light in, open up and allow opportunity to find us, there is so much we can learn about ourselves once we step out of the dark.
