This week in blogging, writing, and content creation: June 30 – July 6, 2018

Happy Friday everyone!

Welcome to another weekly round-up post from our growing community of bloggers, writers, vloggers, podcasters, and other fellow content creators. Each and every week we hand-pick five top posts from a pool of the highest voted user-submitted/created posts in the community and include them in this weekly round-up blog post, along with the newsletter for all of our e-mail subscribers.

Here are this week’s (June 30 – July 6, 2018) most valuable posts from the /t/BES content creators community:

1. Your Big Break Is Never Coming
Most of us are waiting for our big break. And that’s the worst way to succeed. Let’s look at one of history’s most successful artists to see why — and what we should do instead.

2. The Deep Roots of Writing
According to some scholar’s ‘administrative hypothesis’, writing was invented so that early states could track people, land and economic production, and elites could sustain their power.

3. Writing is an ‘Every-Single-Day Kind of Job,’ Says Andrew Sean Greer
Author Andrew Sean Greer shares advice on how he writes (daily), what he reads (poetry, among lots of other things), and how he gets out of a writer’s funk (it can take awhile).

4. Web Comic: Do The Thing
Wayne Gretzky once said “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” In other words, you can’t succeed unless you try. You have to take action, even if it’s just a small step forward.

5. Overcoming Shyness
Throughout my life, I was a shy guy. In my early twenties, I acted like a cool guy to hide my shyness. I didn’t speak much and didn’t get involved a lot. I didn’t want people to see that I was nervous.

That’s all folks! You can view all the rest of the community’s top submissions (10 more) here.

Tune in next Friday for another great weekend reading list that will make you a better and more informed blogger, writer, and/or content creator!  If you have anything awesome to submit that others might enjoy, feel free to do so!

And don’t forget to help other fellow bloggers find this nifty resource by sharing it around! Thanks!
